Friday Favorites

Good Morning Everyone!

Today I am linking up with Andrea, Narci, and Erika for Friday Favorites.

1) Y'all I just can't get enough of A Smoky Mountain Christmas! Dolly Parton is just so genuine.

And now that I have the DVD this year, it is playing all the time. This is definitely one of my favorites.

2) Amazon Prime

I don't mean to be a last minute christmas shopper but gift giving for me is all about feeling. I really have to connect with that present to get it and give it. Sometimes that happens later than I would like and Amazon Prime is just that a PRIME! Free, Two-day shipping on most items. I cam easily compare prices and of course, I love me some prime movies and shows that come with a subscription.
So if you don't have Amazon Prime, you should seriously consider getting it, especially around the holidays.

3) SALES SALES SALES!!!

I need to mark my calendar to remember that this time next year, the best sale deals are NOW. Forget Black Friday and Cyber Monday or whatever Green Monday.

50% off at Loft

There are still some GREAT deals at Nordstrom. Plus free delivery by Christmas Eve. Check out these over the knee boots.

Great deals at Anthroplogie. 30% off all clothing, shoes, and accessories. Plus 20% off  on home and beauty products. Gosh I really wish we could get a store here in Tallahassee or even Panama City.

4) Bull

I love this new show on CBS, Bull. It stars Michael Weatherly, formerly of NCIS and Dark Angel. He's a psychologist who helps win court cases by being able to read the jury and know what to say and how to act in a courtroom. He chooses cases that he knows bias could play a part and possibly send an innocent person to jail so he helps them. I am currently binge watching this one on the CBS app. I think there are 9 episodes so far. I hope CBS keeps this one.

5) Wedding Fun!

My fabulous sister-in-law Mimi is getting married to the very talented and handsome love of her life, Henry. Wedding planning for next year has, of course, begun. And we will be having their engagement party at Aunt Alice's new restaurant over the holiday break. They will be coming to Panama City from L.A. and I can't wait to go dress shopping!

6) My amazing Hubby, Jonathan

What can I say? He is amazing and so supportive. You are my most favorite!

Lynsey

Stranded With Christmas Movies...

Hi everyone,

Random post for me but when I saw Shay and Erika's stranded topic today I just had to join in.

So, if I had to take only three Christmas movies with me to watch over and over again on a deserted island they would be:

1) The Holiday

I am so with Shay on this one. I watch this movie all year round. It is a great feel-good comedy with a phenomenal soundtrack.

And it is so beautiful to watch. The cinematography is gorgeous.  I love everything about this movie.

2) Smoky Mountain Christmas

Not very many people have heard of this but Smoky Mountain Christmas is a made for TV movie that I would search and search every year for. Usually it would play on TBS and now it will play on the Hallmark channel. If you love Dolly Parton and especially if you love her new movies Coat of Many Colors or Circle of Love, you would love this movie.

I finally tracked down a DVD (no clue if its bootlegged but I would buy another one if she ever made it on DVD officially) and I watch it several times during christmas. This movie is set in the Great Smoky Mountains and Dolly comes across a bunch of orphans staying in her cabin. They take care of each other and sing fabulous christmas songs that Dolly wrote. I really wish she would make an official soundtrack of all the songs.

So choosing only 3 is NOT easy but here goes...

3. The Polar Express

I am all about magic and mystical around the holidays and The Polar Express has all that and a bag of popcorn. The music, the wonder, doubting and believing again.

And Josh Groban singing one of the best Christmas songs of ALL time!

Honorable Mentions (I'd totally sneak these on the island too)...

4) The Santa Clause

So I HAVE to include my honorable mentions. It was really tough choosing The Polar Express over The Santa Clause. I grew up with The Santa Clause and The Santa Clause has an enormous amount of magic and I can watch it over and over again but Charlie can be a whiny little kid sometimes so The Polar Express wins.

Gosh, I had a crush on the main Elf standing next to Charlie here. "Elves with Attitude."

And I cannot go a Christmas without watching Home Alone so this one would sneak on the island with me as well.

5) Home Alone

I mean really great movie. My brother and I stayed home by ourselves all the time growing up. Being in a military family, we took really good care of each other. I'd like to think that this would be us if anyone ever tried to break into our house.

And, my brother got a TalkBoy for Christmas after the second movie came out and we had a blast using the voice changer.

So those are my movies. I could name so many more but I've already broken the rules with adding honorable mentions. I hope you all can find Smoky Mountain Christmas. Maybe the more people wanting the watch it, the more likely she will officially drop it on DVD.

Lynsey

My Mix Tape

Today I am linking up with Andrea over at Momfessionals for Show and Tell Tuesday to share the soundtrack to my life.

Today's theme is for everyone to share their life's mix tape and what songs would be the soundtrack to different stages of your life.

This should be fun and slightly embarrassing.

I don't remember this much because I was a baby but I'm told that wherever I was in the house, when the Young and the Restless Theme Song came on I would stop what I was doing, turn my head and listen. The song is called Nadia's Theme by Henry Mancini.

I definitely agree with you Andrea, I grew up watching the The Elephant Show too but I loved the end song and sang it all the time. So here is Skinnamarink.

Guys I'm a theme song junky. I had plenty of outside time, trust me but I loved my TV shows and I could sing just about any TV show theme song of my childhood. So I'm going to spare you and share just a few.

I loved Pee-wee's Playhouse. I still have his playhouse and dolls at my Mom's house.

Mary Poppins

Kids Incorporated. (note a young Fergie was on this show)

My first Movie The Little Mermaid.

At christmas time my brother and I would get out an old record player we had and a record set from Readers Digest and play our favorite christmas songs on repeat -- of course Home Alone had just come out that year so we would speed up the records to make it sound like chipmunks singing. It has the usuals of 12 Days of Christmas, All I want for christmas is my two front teeth, white christmas...

Speaking of Christmas, the year Hanson came out with their Hanson Snowed In soundtrack, my best Friend Leslie and I would would dance the Christmas break away in our socks on a big white board with only a black light on.

I loved Hocus Pocus from the moment it came out. Again, Halloween nut here. I was putting a spell on everything in my house.

In the 90s my brother and I would come home from school and watch Nickelodeon. The usual, All That; The Secret World of Alex Mack, Figure it Out; What Would You Do?; GUTS...The list goes on.

Lately, I have come across BuzzFeeds with "Things that kids today could never understand" and one of them talks about recording your favorite song from the radio. I remember listening to Casey Kasem in the morning, waiting hours for Celine Dions My Hear Will Go On. Of course it was #1 on the charts for weeks and after hours of waiting I was finally able to record the song to a tape.

Guys, this song I am about to show you, Holy Moly. I had no idea... Looking back, how horrible was this song? It was a kids song that played on Disney and I recorded it so I could learn the whole thing. I can still sing it all to this day. (excuse me while I hide in a corner out of shame, just listen to those lyrics. No really. Give it a good listen)

Pretty much any show on the WB in the 90s. You got your Dawson's Creek, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Rosewell, 7th Heaven. Getting into when it transformed into the CW...Gilmore Girls, Everwood, Smallville, One Tree Hill.

Saturday mornings with S Club 7.

In Middle School, my friend Ashlee and I loved the movie She's All That. Oh the late hours dancing to Fatboy Slims Rockafeller Skank. YESSSS!!!

I have ALL of Britney Spears' CDs. She's my Jam!!

I was a nanny for nearly 10 years and the little girl I watched, picked up from school, basically was my little sister, loves country music. I am not a fan but would listen for her. Our favorite song though to sing together...

I love all the old Disney Channel Original Movies and when Halloween Town 2 came out I was obsessed with the end credits song. I recorded the movie on my high-tech VHS player and played that song over and over again to learn the song. I sing it every halloween.

I remember before we knew Napster and Limewire were illegal, I would look for all of my favorite theme songs and put them on CDs to play in the car. I still have these CDs. It wasn't really until High School that I really listened to any other kind of music.

I discovered the GooGoo Dolls...

I went to my first concert, Matchbox Twenty

Went thru a mini punk stage...

I wish I could find the albums I had of some good punk albums of local bands in Panama City.
I definitely made my "sad" CD. I didn't really have an "I hate the world" phase but I lumped these in with my more emotional times...

And these songs...

I used to dream of moving to California. For my 18th birthday I got to visit family friends in San Pedro. I dipped my toes in the Pacific Ocean and pretended I had just got back in from catching some waves. (btw how many times can you say California in a song?)

Well that is about sums up my mix tape before I met my now Husband. Jonathan (my husband) has amazing taste in music and after meeting him, I am more open to new, eclectic and a more wide range of music.

Mix Tape Vol 2
I discovered the Avett Brothers in 2006 and we went to see them live in 2007.

My husband grew up preforming in musicals so even though he doesn't listen to musical soundtracks, I discovered them about this time.

Love Guster...

And some Ben Folds (this video features Regina Spector, love her too)...

Bruno Mars. His halftime performance in 2014 was AMAZING! He has a very talented team.

Ever since Taylor Swift put out her 1989 album, I have been in love. That girl is one smart business woman.

And lastly, some interesting music continues to play at my house, currently, due to our love for cheesy 80s movies. It makes for a fun soundtrack to our day to day lives (I feel like a superhero just doing the dishes)...

I'd say this is a pretty good representation of my mix tape. Hope you enjoy.

Friday Favorites

Hola Bloggeritos!

TGIF!!!
Today, I am linking up with Andrea for Friday Favorites.

1) To begin, my 8 year-old self is jumping for joy with the official release of Fuller House on Netflix.  Let the binge watching begin.

2) My amazing hubby. I've been out of town visiting my nephew, brother, and sister-in-law in Texas and he stayed in Florida to take care of our 3 fur babies. Well, apparently I just do not travel well and I always seem to catch a cold no matter how much Airborne I take (any advice would be grateful) - So I came home sick and he jumped right in to help take care of me. Jonathan, you are definitely a favorite of mine.

3) This Garnier Clearly Brighter AntiPuff Eye Roller. You just roll it on when your eyes are looking a little tired and boom! Its like you've just placed some cucumbers on your eyes and your left with that refreshing feeling and less puffiness. I bought mine through Amazon Pantry.

4) My Metal Ware Corp Aroma Diffuser. I got this one from my favorite local spa Citrine Spa but you can find several options on Amazon or most likely, your local spa. I like to add some Eucalyptus and Lavender for a great relaxing scent that will fill your home and help with your allergies.

5) Office inspiration. My unit is moving into a brand new, fully renovated office space which means I get a clean sleight at decorating my new office. So here is some new office inspiration if you are looking to update your own office space.

Click here to see my board - Office Inspiration

Happy Friday Everyone! Now back to binge watching some Fuller House. And some laundry.

Xoxo,

Lynsey

Friday Favorites

Hello y'all!! TGIF! No really, Thank all that is Good in this world for Fridays.

Today, I am linking up with some of my most favorite bloggers, Andrea, Erika, and Narci, for Friday Favorites.

I'm a Florida girl through and through, so when temperatures reach 50's and below, I am sure to bundle up, including my hands. My favorite Coach Gloves are on sale for 50% off. I have them in Chocolate but they have them in Black, Classic Red and Violet too. I just know these would become your favorites too.

Coach Gloves in Chocolate.

Apparently, in January, I was late to work and missed the boat to order Girl Scout Cookies. I was so upset. Until my co-worker Sarah came to the rescue and allowed me to order my favorite boxes of Girl Scout Cookies and then I received them the very next day. Christmas all over again!

Samoas and Thin Mints are my favorite

My Dad was in the Military, so for the first 9 years of my life I lived in Virginia and I was heavy into Girl Scouts. I was a Daisy and then moved up to being a Brownie. I could easily say the Girl Scout pledge and sing the old Girl Scout songs. Unfortunately, when we moved to Florida, Girl Scouts was not very popular here and Troops were hard to find (its okay though, volleyball became my life anyway) but we always tracked down some Girl Scout Cookies. So track down your local Girl Scouts and get your favorites today (or wait till they show up at your grocery store entrances).

My absolute favorite Girl Scout cookies of ALL time.

On a side note, when I was a Girl Scout (and this could be a regional thing) my favorite Girl Scout cookies were Juliettes. They were named after the founder and tasted just like a chocolate turtle - milk chocolate, caramel, and pecans. OMG I was so upset when they discontinued these and no one in Florida has seem to have EVER heard of them. They're real people and they were my absolute favorites!

My new obsession...Pirate's Booty in Aged White Cheddar.  These are the absolute best baked rice and corn puffs you will ever have (besides the bad-for-you kind). I can find them at my local grocery store in the organic section. They have other flavors and WOW, they are soo good and a favorite worth mentioning.

Bordeaux Cake Stand

I am Love, love, loving this wooden pedestal from the Painted Fox. I just found this website and I love look and the rustic and vintage feel. It is a little out of my budget range but with all of the cakes I've been making lately, I may have to splurge.

And my last favorite for the day are weekends with my hubby. I have a normal schedule but his schedule is all over the place. So sometimes I'm getting off work and he's just heading in. Most Saturday evenings and Sunday's though, we are both off which is awesome. So yummy dinners and possible outdoorsey adventures await!

Happy Friday y'all!!

Lynsey

Life Lately...

Where did January go? No seriously. I cannot believe that February has arrived so quickly. Life lately has been so full, I think a moment to breath is in order and since we are in a Leap Year, we get 1 extra day to do just that.

So in true Lynsey fashion (totally random), here is a January recap and a little sneak peak into what February has in store.

We started the year off with some hiking. Jonathan has hiked some of the trails at Torreya State Park before as well as camped out here but this particular trail was new to all of us. The terrain was pretty moderate. It was hilly, sandy, and wet at times. The trail was about 6.5 miles. We all loved it.

Later in the month we celebrated this lady right here.

This is Sabrina and she has been in our lives for the last year bringing all sorts of feels and fun to our lives, including movie nights, camping, cooking with tomatoes, tacos and games. She recently accepted a position on the other side of the country in Portland, Oregon, where she will be living in her dream city with her dream job. We celebrated with a stylish dinner send off and champagne, of course!

We will miss you tons but can't wait for your visits.

Lately, I have been wanting to do a little baking. I've made some delicious gluten-free brownies, an awesome blue and white swirl cake and a double fudge cake. This makes my heart happy.

Down here in the South, we take Mardi Gras pretty seriously. Beads, king cake, beer. What can I say, any excuse to party with my neighbors. Last year, the Nuckol's clan (minus Mimi) went to New Orleans to celebrate.

We obviously made out like bandits - or hoarders. This year we came home to Panama City to celebrate in Downtown St. Andrews.

We also got to step into a local unfavorite for the first time ever. Tan Fannies.

I kid you not folks. This place is a dump right in the middle of downtown St. Andrews. The community has been trying to get rid of this place for years but the people just would not sell, until now. A family friend was able to nab this place up! We are all relieved and a celebration was in order. They held a private party to raise funds for the demolition. There was a pole dancing contest (shirts stayed on), drinks and special t-shirts. It was fun to see the inside and raise money for a great cause. Downtown St. Andrews will be booming next year!

Mother-in-Law and I, inside Tan Fannies

Besides all that, life has been going great for the Nuckols family.
Mika has been enjoying the cool weather and never wants to come back inside.

Eevee took a trip to the pet store and was showered with treats from the staff.

Raven got to join our recent Panama City trip and stay with us, which is rare but she needed some extra family time.

Jonathan and I enjoyed a date night out at The Edison. A new local restaurant located in Tallahassee's Cascades Park. The food was divine!! A little crowded but if you ask for a more private table the atmosphere is perfect.

With Valentine's Day coming up, I like to update my kitchen chalk board with some holiday cheer. Not sure what I'll draw this year but this was last years creation.

If you like to order your flowers online or if you are looking for something unique check out The Ultimate Rose website. These roses are unreal! But they're real and not painted.

I have been eyeing this book, lately: Knowing Your Value by Mika Brzezinski. I'm told that it is filled with great advice for women in the work place and in a world trying to be run by men. Ordering this book soon, I'll tell you how it is.

Lastly, and certainly not least, I am looking forward to my Texas trip later this month to watch my nephew, Wesley. What a cutie!

Xoxo,
Lynsey
